Bilge Serdar is an interdisciplinary researcher working across performing arts, somatic movement, and technology. She holds a BA in mathematics education and has also pursued extensive studies in theatre and performing arts. She completed her master’s degree at Ankara University’s Theatre Department, focusing on the kinesthetic dimension of aesthetic experience in theatre for young audiences (TYA).
Her doctoral research at the same department examined the somatic approach in actor training through the lens of enactive theories. In addition to her academic work, she trained in physical theatre at the Commedia School in Copenhagen and completed a certification in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies in Berlin.
Recently, she earned a second master’s degree through the Choreomundus – International Master in Dance Knowledge, Practice, and Heritage program, an EU-funded Erasmus Mundus initiative spanning four universities: University of Clermont Auvergne (France), NTNU (Norway), University of Szeged (Hungary), and University of Roehampton (UK). She was awarded a full Erasmus Mundus scholarship during her studies, and her thesis explored the digitalization of somatic movement experience (Laban/ Bartenieff Movement Studies) in hybrid learning environments using ethnographic methods.
She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion, University of Oslo, where she contributes to the AMBIENT project investigating bodily entrainment and multimodal interaction in technologically mediated performance contexts.
