This video documents a collaborative performance project exploring the artistic and technical possibilities of networked performance, where musicians and dancers perform together in real time across multiple physical spaces.

The event took place at Popsenteret in Oslo and was realized as part of the AMBIENT research project at the RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion, University of Oslo, in collaboration with the Department of Musicology and C2HO: Creative Computing Hub Oslo. It brought together musicians, dancers and researchers featuring live music and dance distributed across multiple floors of the venue.

By combining cutting-edge streaming systems with creative stage design, the project investigated how latency, spatial separation, and video mediation shape performer interaction and audience experience. The performance unfolded across three separate stages, allowing the audience to move between rooms and engage with the performance from different angles. The event was also live streamed on YouTube, extending access to remote viewers.

Musicians and dancers collaborated through a hybrid setup using multiple audio-visual transmission systems, including LoLa and custom-built OBS-based configurations. The technical team ensured seamless integration of live feeds across locations. Researchers documented the performance and conducted interviews with performers and audience questionnaires to gain deeper insight into how digital mediation affects bodily communication, co-presence, and the aesthetics of liveness.

This video showcases the innovative spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration and the evolving nature of real-time artistic creation across distance.

Reconnection - Physical Theatre Tools for Youth Workers

Organized by ASSITEJ Turkey and funded by the European Union, Reconnection brought together participants from 11 countries—artists, educators, and practitioners working with children and youth—for an intensive exploration of embodied theatre-making.

As the main instructor and curriculum designer, I led workshops focused on clowning, mask work, somatic movement, and storytelling. The training introduced movement-based physical theatre tools designed to enrich participants’ creative and educational practices. Emphasizing sensory awareness, play, and non-verbal expression, the program fostered artistic reconnection and intercultural exchange.

At the end of the training, participants collaboratively devised short performances, which were shared with a live audience. These works demonstrated the power of embodied storytelling to connect across age, language, and cultural boundaries. Reconnection offered both creative inspiration and practical tools for those working at the intersection of performance and pedagogy.

The Barrel, or a Matter of Destiny

(A Physical Storytelling Performance)

Theatre Lokus is an independent performance collective exploring the expressive potential of the body in theatrical storytelling. Founded by Bilge Serdar and her two colleagues, the group works at the intersection of physical theatre, social critique, and poetic imagery—merging somatic awareness, visual aesthetics, and interdisciplinary methods to create thought-provoking stage works.

The Barrel is a physical storytelling performance that blends absurd humor, dark satire, and grotesque characters to explore themes of political power, bureaucracy, and control. Developed and performed by Theatre Lokus, the show uses clowning, physical theatre, and visual metaphor to construct a richly expressive world.

At the center of the narrative is a solitary figure and a mysterious barrel—an object that becomes a potent symbol of survival, submission, and absurdity in an unstable society.

The performance has been featured in international festivals, including the Bursa International Theatre Festival for Children and Youth, and has toured in several cities across Turkey. With its exaggerated characters and universal physical language, The Barrel invites audiences of all ages and backgrounds to laugh, question, and reflect.

by Theater Lokus

I have worked as a script consultant on award-winning short films and an upcoming feature-length project, with a particular focus on narrative structure, character development, and embodied dramaturgy. My approach is grounded in academic training in dramaturgy, which I studied during my theatre education, and enriched by my professional experience in performance and somatic practices. This combined perspective allows me to support directors and writers with both structural insight and sensorial sensitivity, helping shape stories that are emotionally resonant and theatrically effective.

In 2021, I served as script consultant for Stiletto, which won Best Short Film at the Virgin Media International Dublin Film Festival and was officially selected for the BFI London Film Festival. I continued this work with The Longest Night (2023), nominated for Best Short Film at the Nuremberg Film Festival and the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, and awarded second place at the International Izmir Short Film Festival.

I am currently a script consultant on Backstage, a feature film in production, supported by Bavaria Film Funds across script development, project development, and production phases.
